Calopogon pallidus

Range:

Habitat: terrestrial in moist, open, acidic bogs, prairies, pine woods, and roadsides
Common name: Pale Grass Pink
Blooming: March-July
Comments: compared to its cousin, C. tuberosus, this species bears smaller and slenderer flowers (typically one inch--2.5 cm--tall) on a slender, wiry spike. While most typically a pale pink, pure white and deep pink forms are seen occasionally. Unlike its larger cousin, these flowers are often lightly fragrant. Pollination of this flower happens in a similar fashion as Calopogon tuberosus.
